I'm not trying to argue with you.. I get your point. I'm just saying I see where she is coming from. Like the OP just posted.. not only was it because of it being a historical event but because it was a large volume of people. Senseless, crazy violence aimed at innocent people in masses. If I was American I would be scared to leave my house right now.. I'd be scared to be on a free way, in a grocery store, at the zoo- anything. Feeling very grateful to be Canadian these past few days that's for sure.

Still rather be Canadian than American. When was the last time there was a terrorist attack here?

do they know the boston bomb was terrorist? Havent watched the news today.

Honestly, we must have better security, cause there has been attempts here but they have always been caught. (so far)

They don't... but the president and senator got mailed letters that are positive for ricin and they are speculating that the bombing and the poisoned letters are connected... they just arrested a suspect for the bombing that they identified through a store video camera.

It was a terrorist. Anything like that- where people are intentionally hurt and terrorized is terrorism. Whether it was someone who was a part of an organized terrorism group or a crazy individual.
I'd argue that America definitely has better security than us. I'm sure for every terrorist act committed in America there are hundreds stopped. There is no debating that living North of the border is much safer (and you're at a much lower risk) of being in an attack like this.

In Texas there is the MS150 from Houston to Austin i believe. They have 100% stepped up the security. I would walk because for decades our parents taught us not to live in fear. So what are we telling the people that its ok to live in fear?

Terrorist:
A person who uses terrorism in the pursuit of political aims.

I honestly don't know much about it but I did always assume all terriost attacks were related to political things, thats why I didnt think the boston one was a terrorist act.. and the definition of the word says political...

I dont know.. either way its horrible.

[snip!] ... is okay with today being their last day. I think it's a legitimate fear that she has and completely reasonable not to walk."</blockquote>

What I'm saying is that something bad can happen anywhere at any time. People still ride in planes after 9/11, still go to school after all the shootings, still shop at a mall after other shootings. Live life how you want to live it, without fear. You can walk outside your house and get hit by a random runaway car. Enjoy life to the fullest and dont let fear stop you.

If you dont care about the marathon (march of dimes), then don't go. But if its something you've always wanted to do, trained for, etc., then don't let Boston stop you.

I guess maybe? I don't know... But I would still consider it an act of terrorism. Horrible regardless.
