Okay I think I completely missed the point of the post. Are you saying that people get crap for giving formula past 1yr, but breastfeeding doesn't? If that's the case, it's because most of the time people think formula will provide 100% of the nutrition they need so they probably aren't pushing them to eat nutritious meals or anything else but the formula. An extended breastfed child will still eat food, and nurse occasionally (I think? I never breastfed but know women who have). If you're aware of the fact that formula will not provide 100% of their nutrition at that age, and are giving them healthy foods and meals/snacks and just the formula as a drink like milk...I might not agree but I wouldn't say anything to you./

Bottles do bad things for their teeth. Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with it. They make toddler formula.

Well my son is 17 months and is still on about 3 bottles a day. He still eats tons of food but he will get a bottle when he wakes up, one before nap and one before bedtime. He will drink every other liquid (water, juice and even milk) from a sippy cup but if I tried to strictly put him on sippy cups he cries and wont sleep until he gets a bottle. I have tried putting him on regular cows milk but it didn't work so well. I am confused because he will drink milk from a sippy, eat ice cream, yogurt and cheese with no problems but if he drinks it from his bottle (at 1) he will have bad diarrhea where his bum was bleeding and his pediatrician said take him off cows milk and keep him on toddler formula. He does eat like crazy. He loves cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, strawberries, broccoli, grapes, oranges and bananas. He eats rice, chicken, steak etc etc. He eats whatever we do so I know he's getting nutrients but my FIL gives me shit for him taking the 3 bottles he does because his son and daughter (my sister and brother-in-law) were off the bottle by 9-10 months. He thinks that my son should be too. My daughter was easy to transition from bottle to sippy and from formula to milk.

Why can people ebf? because breast milk changes as your baby changes..and its reccommended by who and aap to nurse until 2 at least. Bottles and formula are bad for teeth. If that's what works for you..yay! If your kid is healthy..double yay! People need to stop bothering you if your kid is happy and healthy.

If your son is having health issues with cows milk to the point of passing diarrhea with blood and your Doctor is advising you to keep him on toddlers formula for the time being then that is what you have to do. If your FIL doesn't understand that and his priority isn't his Grandson's health and he wants to try and pressurise you into supplying your child with a liquid that is making him bleed from his bottom and have diarrhea then I think it's a about time you tell your FIL to go f**k himself.

My dd can't handle whole milk but she does great with 2%. Her dr told us to just make sure she gets yogurt with the fats and stuff that's missing from the whole milk.

LOL yes I have told him that when they failed to give my daughter her breathing treatment like I asked them too. His reason was she didn't need it because she wasn't coughing but the doctor wants her on it in the morning and at night to keep her airways open because she would wheeze. She doesn't have asthma but they want to prevent it I guess. But I think it's funny because my MIL said they were giving her candy (what my MIL calls cough drops  ) and I flipped out, if she wasn't coughing then WHY THE HELL DID THEY GIVE HER COUGH DROPS!!! Oh I just about blew the roof off their house with how pissed I was. Hopefully they learned not to piss me off like that and shut the hell up with how I raise my kids.

he will eat everything else with dairy but I guess giving him too much milk is what his bottle cannot handle. He will eat cheese like crazy (like my daughter does), eat yogurt and ice cream so it's weird. I will continue til he's ready and my pediatrician says enough LOL

my husband and I went to Jamaica for vacation, they didn't give it to her the 5 days my kids were with them. They at least let me install the car seat right but whatever, totally different story lol

Yeah DH, DD, and I all have the same thing. Sour cream, cream cheese, cheese, yogurt all fine. Anything over 2% milk makes me sick and if I have to much ice cream lol

Oh wow! That shit wouldn't fly with me and I wouldn't allow them to be left alone with my children unsupervised. Doing things that could potentially lead to your children being taking to hospital and having health issues is not acceptable. Absolutely stop the unsupervised visits until they stop the dangerous behaviour they are displaying. They're not responsible enough to be left alone with them.

oh yeah they asked if my daughter can go to their house for like 2-3 weeks during the summer and I told my husband OVER MY DEAD BODY. LOL Then they told my daughter that when she goes to stay with them this summer that she can go visit her aunt and she said "my mom said I can't go" :) No way would they get her that long with their attitude and irresponsibility

My daughter had formula until 13 months old. At night. She was a premie and the milk made her constipated and sick. She is now 18 months old off the bottle and no more formula. Formula is expenisive!! If the child is being fed and on formula who cares!
