If something does not feel right and you feel the child's health was in danger you should ALWAYS call. Best case scenario is that an investigation is done and is unfounded. I would rather be told that I was wrong about my suspicions then to do nothing and have it weight on my heart if something happened to the baby.

If CPS decides the baby needs a foster home I believe you (OP) can volunteer yourself, can you not? I mean, I'm sure they'd want to check you out. Or, of course, her parents/family can take her. I don't see why she would need to go to a stranger... Def sounds like PPD. Keep us updated on mom and baby both!

CPS is going to send an investigator out within the next 24 hours. I texted her roommates to give them a heads up and someone had already beat me to the punch there was a cop at their apartment for her. I would not volunteer to foster the baby I have a baby of my own and am a single mother myself so there is no way I could do it. I just want them to make her do the right thing. I am not normally a whistle blower but I couldn't sit back and watch her kill her own baby. I really hope she pulls her act together and takes care of the baby but if she doesn't I hope they take her.

A cop for what? Is that who investigates or...?
I feel horrible for that little baby. Too many terrible things happen to innocent little babies, I hate it. I wish I could just take them all away and care for them :(

Better safe than sorry, and if they don't take the baby maybe it will scare her into getting help or pulling her act together.

I guess her mother called the police to send them out to go check on her. The officer that showed up will write a report and send it to DCF and the investigator will have it when they come out from CPS tomorrow or later today. After the cop showed up though my roommate went to the gym at our apartment complex and saw her walking down the street carrying the baby (not supporting the head) leaving the complex so I think she is leaving and walking somewhere knowing DCF may show up today. For those confused in FL DCF is CPS

Not supporting the head.... Gah.... That visual is truly terrifying for me.

I don't know how I would of handled it. Not well, that's for sure. I feel horrible. I hope the baby isn't starved and I hope the baby gets put in a home full of loving people until the mother can properly care for the baby.

This. It doesnt sound like she's a "bad mom," it sounds like she needs help... she probably is depressed.

She doesn't even properly care for herself. She didn't take a shower for a whole week after she had the baby not even in the hospital while the baby was in the NICU and she wasn't allowed to go down there. She isn't eating and while she was pregnant her OB called the police on her because she has epilepsy and had a seizure and wouldn't tell anyone. She also for 3 months refused to go to her OB appointment and refused to see a neurologist even though the OB told her it was life or death.
