How much do your kids sleep? California Dreaming ♡ TTC since Jan 2014; 3 kids; The Valley, CA, United States 2529 posts

I have a 6 yr old and an 8 yr old, and both go to bed at 8:30 p.m. during the week and 9:30 p.m. on weekends. They wake up at 6:30 a.m. to get ready for school, sometimes they wake up an hour earlier if they hear me and the baby awake. A few moms were very surprised at their early bedtime, so my question is do YOU think they sleep to much? How much do your LOs sleep? Is about 10 hrs of sleep a night, a crazy amount of sleep in your opinion?

I dont think 10 hrs of sleep is too much. I have a 3 year old and 1 year old my 3 year old usually gets about 14 hours of sleep sometimes less and my 1 year old gets about 16 hours of sleep.

10 hours is adequate and normal IMO...

I think that's a perfect amount of sleep for their age. I can't compare them to my son since he is just shy of 7 months so he sleeps and naps quite a bit. But there isn't a need for them to be up until 9:30 and then going to bed on a school night. It could take them 30+mins to go to sleep some nights. I know when I was a child I hardly ever went right to sleep I just laid in bed and relaxed

Exactly. Kids are supposed to get more sleep than adults. DD is 3 and she goes to bed around 10 or 11 and gets up between 9 and 10. Usually takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoons, so that makes 13 hours a day minimum.

Same women told me I was crazy for "letting" my 5 month old sleep about 15 hrs including naps. Good to know it's not so crazy,
