Dexter is very good and adjusts very well to new situations so I shouldn't have much trouble with him settling when we move. But that doesn't stop me worrying about it. Lol. He'll be 7 months old when we move and I'm worried he won't like his new room and not sleep well. At the moment he's sleeping 10 to 12 hours a night and has done since he was 2 months old. I'm worried he won't sleep in the new house because it's different.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it as smooth As possible for him? Any suggestions would be good :)
Thank you ladies.
We lived in 4 houses during my dds first 8 months (not by choice)
She adjusted well. I always made sure her room was completely unpacked the first day and set up in as similar ways as possible, so that all her familier items were visible to her.
She adjusted well and it didn't upset her sleeping.
It's not quite teh same thing but when I go back to Scotland to visit etc we stay for a few weeks. I always make sure that I take his favourite comforters, blankets etc and stick to his routine. Maybe try and make his room smell as like the old house as possible or put a tshirt or something with your smell in the bed with him - I never had to, it was enough for Calum just to have his blankets and toys.
It might be hard to avoid over stimulating him the first day though if there are laods of people around etc but normally after the first night he should be fine I think.
Thank you :) ye the first night is always a bit hectic. That's a good idea getting his room done first. I could do that while all the men unload the rest of the van. Haha :) his got his favourite dragon toy an shark toy so I'll make sue he's got them :) x x
My son was 8 months old when we moved. We moved into a much bigger place with tons of room for him to crawl and explore so he seemed more fascinated by that then the fact that it wasn't the same place anymore. We also moved him into his own room on the first night and he was fine with that too.
