I've driven that far with young kids before straight through. I just stop a lot to stretch legs and have potty breaks. I brought books and little toys for them to play with and kept snacks for them in the car and drinks in a ice chest in the car. I've never had an issue. And I've went that far without having anyone with me BUT my kid.

Do you have a DVD player for the car? That would keep him busy for a little while. My kiddo freaks out if we don't have it. He's not a good car rider. Lol

My LO is almost 9 months old and hardly ever sleeps in the car which is why I suggested the DVD player. Lol

If he'll sleep most of the way I'd just go ahead and drive as far as you can and then stay the night somewhere. That's a crazy long drive with a LO. :)
