I wasn't implying that you should have ignored it. But rather that taking him to the ER was a bit drastic when you could have called a nurse line or your Pedro's office first (They usually do not charge to speak with a nurse)

That's all. I was a paranoid first time mom when my son was younger, too. You just have to weigh the risks and benefits of taking your infant into an emergency room full of other sick people.

Okay, I understand now. It can be really scary, especially as a First time mommy, but I don't think you have anything to worry about here.

honestly not all first time moms overreact or don't know that babies get sick too.
second off she said she would have just taken him to the pedi but insurance is messed up so she took him to the er.

Why don't you understand she wasn't taking him to the er because she was completely freaked?

Also it could have been a big deal...you don't know,so don't judge...and if he's 11 weeks and not taking a bottle that is slightly a big deal esp since that's all they eat,err drink rather, at that time in their lives.

I'm sorry for being a total bitch. I'm a defensive raging bitch when it comes down to things. I was just trying to take the on call nurses advice. I didn't know what else I could do to get him to eat, and I didn't want him to dehydrate. It's happened before.

I tried to just CALL the ER, but they said they couldn't give me advice over the phone, that I had to come in...

Again, I'm sorry if I seem like a neurotic bitch, but I didn't have many other options, and I had to make sure my little boy was okay.

Last think I wanted to do was expose him to more germs.

I think it's safe to say I'll stop using this forum again.
Thanks though girls.

Don't worry about it, you didn't know better. With kids, it's always better to overreact than under-react.

She didn't say in OP that he wasn't taking a bottle. That would have completely changed my answer.

And, where did I say ALL first time moms are paranoid? I said I was.

No one wash bashing you, you asked if you were overreacting and you were. It is only a snotty nose and you exposed him to all the other germs that are in an ER. No need to make it seem like other parents don't give a fuck about their kids. You're a first time mom and bound to freak about new things. Next time you could try calling his Pedi and see if they have an on-call nurse, i know a lot of them do and they can help you with what to do.

She's not a first time mom, BTW. She has an older child.

Really? I saw the older boy in her profile pic but couldn't be sure if he was hers.

After looking at her previous posts, she has a few in which she's kinda seeming to freak out over normal baby issues. Not sayin she's wrong, but IMO she was overreacting and that's what the OP asked.

I don't know for sure. But I think so.

I have a 4 year old so I'm not a first time mom but I've freaked out so many times with my second. I've rushed him to the ER 5 or times in 10 months...3 were actual emergencies, the rest were because his pedi sucks and is never there, and has no on-call doctor. The poor kid is just unlucky.

She said somewhere that he was adopted, but she lived with him. So in a way she is a first time mom, may not be her first kid but i'm sure you get what i mean.
