That's horrid! People that commit hate crimes of this nature are sick in the head. How do you avenge a large scale hate crime on innocent people by commiting a smaller hate crime on an innocent person? So sad that their small minds cannot see it like that....smh.

If they are caught they should be charged with felony assault with the hate crime charge added

Why is it that hate crimes are only noticeable or brought up on the news only when terrorist attacks happen?

If I was brown skinned I would lie and tell people I'm Indian.

Maybe because they are directly related? To be completely honest, I still don't leave the house unless absolutely necessary on the anniversary of 9/11 because I get harassed so much by people thinking they're being patriotic, and I'm legitimately afraid.

The first guy I posted about was from Bangladesh, a country in the Indian subcontinent. I'm very obviously Arab and Muslim (I wear a scarf) so I can't pretend. Luckily I live in an area now where people are way chill and I am not afraid of stuff like this.

You wouldn't BELIEVE the shit that has happened to me on 9/11 by other people. I don't blame you. Many muslims are scared and don't go out for that whole week.

My aunt is somewhere from the Middle East. Not really sure where exactly because my grandparents adopted her back in the 80's from overseas and they had no paperwork on her whatsoever. But she is very dark and obviously Arab.

Anyway, she is in the Air Force, and I remember after 9/11, she came home and we picked her up at the airport and the TSA almost tackled her, and she was even in uniform. It was awful.

It's a nightmare. I had someone legit try to run me over screaming obscenities out the window, I've been spit on, my scarf pulled off, and just berated in public for even wearing hijab. It's humiliating to be made to feel like we should be ashamed of ourselves for a crime that was committed by a minority.

Traveling sucks, but I really don't mind it. I have never flown since 9/11 without special attention from the TSA, and I realize they're just doing their jobs and I don't complain about it. Tackling, though, that's messed up.
