spasm pains *~AngelEyes~* 2 kids; 1 angel baby; Memphis, Tennessee 10518 posts

I keep getting these kind of like period like cramps in my lower abdomen... the last couple of days it's been pretty rough... but just on and off... but today I'm getting those pains again and they are causing real bad spasms and every now and then I get a kind of pressure downstairs... these cramps keep coming and going... I timed a few of them (sort of) about 5-10 minutes apart from each other for about 30 minutes then they sort of stopped, but now they are back. I've been feeling like he's kicking or pushing down on my cervix for the last week or two, and it hurts pretty bad. laying down helps for a while, but not too much. I've been drinking water and the baby is just as active (if not more) as usual... and it honestly feels like he's trying to push his way down... I don't wanna go into L&D and it be nothing, but at the same time I don't wanna stay home and it be something either. :\ DH has already threatened twice to take me in... but I'm about ready to change my mind. :\ I can breathe through most of them, but here and there I get really sharp pains (especially around my sciatic area up into my belly) that leave me breathless and in tears for a moment. And there's no bleeding or anything, but there is a bit of excessive discharge with no smell and no real color. Not really asking anything of anyone, I just wanted to get that out...

Start timing them again for the next hour. If you have 5 or more then you need to ATLEAST call your dr.

Eta: hit enter too soon, that's how my contractions felt when I went into preterm labor at 29 weeks with my youngest.

I'm definitely going to do that. :\ it hurts pretty bad... they don't really last very long, maybe like 20 seconds then they ease up some. unfortunately the only number I have for my OB is her office number, no after hours number (which is really irritating...)

My l&d have me a direct number to the nurses desk and I can talk to someone at any hour, maybe your l&d has that also so you can save yourself a trip if its not needed?

I would call your dr honestly....when I went into preterm labor with my son, that's how it started out. I'm glad I decided to listen to everyone and go in because they could barely stop them as it was. With my last daughter, I had TERRIBLE braxton hicks contractions. I'm talking like they were just as bad as the ones I had when I was in full blown labor at the end with my son. Every time I went to L&D, it turned out to be nothing but the point is....it had me in tears, they were coming close and felt like real labor. Sometimes our uterus gets to be very irritable. Point being, it could be nothing but it COULD very well be something and you don't want to stay at home and ignore it. Your dr will have a good indication while talking to you through the contractions if it seems to be real or not. Hope it's nothing but just an irritable uterus for you though. :/

I didn't even think of that! I'm def gonna see if I can do that, because I def don't wanna go up there, get everyone worked up (which unless they tell us preterm labor I'm not saying anything to anyone anyway...) for nothing...

I love my l&d department, especially because they make themselves available to speak to, and they tell me when I'm "overacting"or when I can just try some home remedies and call them back in am hour or2 to see how things are going without a trip there. they are only 10 minutes away, but at 3 in the morning 10 minutes seems like 10 hours lol.

that's what I'm hoping. I don't want my baby coming this early... he had better stay in there for another month at least, damn it. We've got stuff we gotta do before he can come.

That's awesome! I don't know about the L&D here, I haven't delivered here before... but I was there when I had my MC. Hopefully they'll just say I'm overreacting and need to just get some rest. last two cramps I've had were 8 min apart, haven't had one (besides the constant nag of spasming in my side) since 8:36.

Oh I completely understand. With Trey I went into PTL at 28 weeks and continued for the next several weeks. I honestly don't know how I made it to 37 weeks without having him. Lol. Even on strict bedrest and medication, I was in the hospital so much. Three times, they had to get the helicopter ready to take me by lifeline in case the contractions didn't stop. I was SOOO scared.

I can imagine. early babies run in my family, but only on my mom's side as far as I know. (I don't know about my dad's side... times like this would be a good time to know about my dad's side of the family... biological side that is...)

See I had no family history of preemie babies in my family or my husband's side. It was just a fluke thing. Although now after what I have read, I guess celiac disease causes that among other complications I have had with my other two pregnancies and always wondered why. SOOO....I'm all about getting in to be tested for it so I can gain control over my body again and hopefully not have complications this time.

yeah I know what you mean. Hopefully you don't have any complications with this baby. I hate seeing people having complications with their pregnancies... it's no fun. :\
