Mirena issues Daisha Lopez 1 child; Springfield, Massachusetts 1 posts

I had my baby boy March 9, 2013. I chose mirena as my birth control method and they inserted it the day I left the hospital. My first pp checkup was last week and when the doctor checked to see if everything was ok she said she couldn't feel the wires and had to schedule an ultrasound to make sure it was still there. My ultrasound showed it was in there which was a relief but now I've been bleeding as if I got my period which I was never doing before. Not sure if this is from the ultrasound (which was vaginal) or if this is from the mirena not being where it should be. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I switch bc?

It could be from the ultrasound, or you get be getting a period. It is possible to have periods with mirena, so it wouldn't be that big of a surprise. If you are concerned and feel like you should switch bc then do so.

I don't think its common for an ultrasound to cause bleeding. If you think about it practically, I'm assuming you had a vaginal exam and the very worse that could of have happened is that probe off theirs hit you're cervix and irritated it and caused a tiny bit of spotting, but a.large amount seems highly unlikely to.me
.. I've heard so many bad things about mirena I would switch

You can still have a period with Mirena. It's highly likely that it's just your period. It does make them stop, but sometimes it takes a while. The strings can move, though, and it still be in place..that happened to me and it was like that for 3 years.
