I have a joint account with my husband about 6 months into our relationship. He has his own savings from before we met, so I don't mind that he has his own. The joint checking is only for when bills needed to be paid. His savings he let me take money out when I need it though.

Yes, all of our accounts are joint: checking, savings, business....
They have been since before we married. I started managing his money and doing his business bookkeeping when we were dating so joining our accounts just made sense.

We've always had a joint account... I wasn't even old enough to have one when we met lol.

no joint account, not for marijuana, and not for banks :)

my SO is a SAHD, I work and pay all the bills. we each have our own account.
he has credit cards that I pay (for household expenses), and also I have regular wires going from my account into his every month for his spending money.

Hubby and I have joint accounts...I dont work so even if we had separate accounts there'd be no money in mine haha I understand separate acounts when you're just dating/ not married..but I find it weird to have a married couple with seaparate accounts, going along with the whole "whats mine is yours"...our money is just that, OUR money..not my money and his money( even when i was working)

Good to know its pretty normal :) my family has always said we should not have a joint account unless we are married and I am also working. They make it seem like I am just spending all his money. If I was with him just for the money, I would not be with him lol.

we have been together for 3 yrs and engaged for 1 yr and we still have seperate accts. if i ever need anything i just ask him and he will give me a card. and the way our finances work is whats mine is is and what is his mine. we never have a problem. just works better this way.

<blockquote><b>Quoting Sofia's Mummy♥:</b>" Is your SO getting to stay in the US? I'm not sure what we'll do yet, I'm not sold on the idea of joint accounts, perhaps we'll just pick bills to pay from each account."</blockquote>

We don't know yet. They moved his court date again. It was suppose to be in a few days, now it was changed to the end of May.
Our lawyer said it does not look good. And we cannot afford to pay for the paperwork that needs to be done. I am still terrified, but I only allow myself 2 days to cry and be dramatic about it when I am scared of something. If I let myself get sucked in and cry about it all day I wouldn't be able to function.
