How old was your LO when you put them in their own "big" bed? Like a little bed with rails or something similar...

DS is in a toddler bed with rails, if that's what your talking about :)

He went in at like 9-10 months because he was a climber!

DD is 15 months, we bought the "big girl bed" with princess sheets and pillow and a giant stuffed bunny to snuggle with. Set it up all perfect, and made a big deal out of how special it was.
Yea she didn't fall for that crap. If I even sit her on the "big girl bed" she screams at me. We'll try again in a few months.

Thanks ladies!

I really want to use a baby hammock but most are only rated to 9 months. I really dont want to buy a cot (crib), so I was thinking about using a port-a-cot (pack and play) between the hammock and toddler bed.

13 months.
She climbed out, fell out, got her legs stuck between the bars..you name it.
We got her a toddler bed first, dumbest thing EVER. She moves too much for it and would roll into the sides and wake herself up constantly.
We gave her our full size bed when we upgraded to a king. Let her pick out her sheets and pillow cases :) She loved it soooo much better.

With DS BEFORE we got him the toddler bed we taught him that you have to get off of things feet first! He makes sur eto get out of bed feet first since day 1!

I was wondering if 9 months was too young? I would like to go from a hammock straight to a bed but wasnt sure if that is "allowed" lol

Most people think that it is too young. I had to switch my son because he was a climber and our crib was tall! I would say just make sure the your LO understands how to get down from things, and take it slow!
