I was reading that 95% of kids in the 1950's were potty trained by 18 months. It wasn't until the 1960's when disposable diapers came out that the methods were changed. It's as they get older i believe they start to develop their own will and do what they want she they want. Beating definitely isn't the answer but I believe you can't give up because she knows if she does it her way long enough you'll give in. I remember when we started Matthew peed himself 8 times a day and every time I changed him into new undies and we moved forward. At one point he demanded I out a diaper on him so he could poop.i just continued to take him to the restroom.if he sat there and did nothing I let him go play for a little and brought him back in.somtimes I sat with hi we played,I sang songs, we did some learning activitys. Sometimes he brought a small toy in or he read books that were only for the bathroom. I also defined him as a big boy compared to his sister who is a baby(5months).

problem is she will not sit on the potty. i take her to the bathroom and she wont sit down. if she does it lasts less than 30 seconds until she gets up again and tells me all done.
and if its not that then she will scream and kick and fight me tooth and nail so she wont have to sit on the potty. so i would say she is nowhere near ready.

i would keep taking her in every 30 minutes even if she wont sit i'd try.i know its tuff with a new little one who needs your attention also. i also let my son decorate his potty with stickers while he was sitting on it but only when he sat on it. Just remind yourself she wont go the college still wearing diapers some days are worse than others and itll happen.
