I just had my first postpartum period and my husband and I want to try for baby #2. It took a year of ovulation and bbt testing to conceive our 8 month old son. So we want to try for another however I am wondering how likely it would be to conceive since my son is still primarily breastfed. My husband wants me to stop bf soon so we can try but I rather let Dr wean on his own and I don't for see that happening anytime soon.
What is your opinion? How likely is it that I am ovulating?

So you conceived when she was about 14 months. How regular was she breastfed, if you don't mind my asking? ALso, congrats!
BTW I love Kenzi. b***h cracks me up and I adore her outfits.

ovulation usually occurs w/in a few cycles (2-3) after first ppd af depending on how old your LO is. Other times it returns right away. My 2nd & 3rd child are 11mo apart and i ebf'd . coslept, & didnt use any paci's......Everyone is different. You may want to try OPK'S

Did you conceive after getting AF? If so how many afs did you have and how often were you bf?
We ideally want them to be about 18 months apart that way D's is too young to really establish jealousy towards any future siblings.

My cycle came back at 6 weeks PP and was regular. I was EBFing every 3-4 hours

I may use remaining opks to establish that I am ovulating but it wasn't until the month after I gave up actually trying to TTC that I became pregnant so I don't think we will be doing the usually attempts until we become desperate.

I got pregnant while breastfeeding with this baby. DS was EBF and I got pregnant. I had only had ONE PP period, and it was when DS was 5 months old. I conceived when he was 8 months old. However, it dried up my supply COMPLETELY within a matter of a couple weeks. I was really sad about having to stop breastfeeding him. Nothing would bring my supply back.

I don't think it would be a smart idea to stop breastfeeding for the sake of conceiving. If all is going well with breastfeeding, why stop? I don't think it will hinder your ability to conceive.

Just got first pp AF on the 11th DS is almost 8months and I pump 3X at work and he is fed every 2-3 1/2 hrs from the moment I get home until the moment I leave for work. He is still co sleeping or sleeping in his pack n play next to the bed since he nurses throughout the night.

I figured if I get pregnant he will stop bf on his own. The few times I hear of someone conceiving while bf that is usually the case. Bf hasn't been easy since my return to work but even though I had planned on stopping at 8 months I think that he likes bf if anything for comfort.
although I don't know if I will be able to keep up any supply after I can no longer use the room I occupy for pumping.

I got pregnant 3 times while breastfeeding ds. My af returned about 6 to 8 weeks pp, and I got pregnant the first time (definitely a surprise) when ds was 6 months. Unfortunately I lost that baby because of my thyroid disease..at least that is what I believe. We ttc the cycle after my miscarriage, and got pregnant on our first try with a chemical pregnancy. I then got pregnant with our sticky baby a few months after the last miscarriage, when ds was around 15 months. He continued to breastfeed on demand until he was almost 2. He would probably breastfeeding today if I let him, but I wanted to wean him.

Every persons body is different, but if you are ovulating I really don't think breastfeeding will cause any problems with ttc.
