Somehow, in 2013, yet another magazine has decided it would be a good idea to put a Caucasian model in literal blackface for a fashion editorial. This time, the culprit is Vogue Netherlands. (In the recent past, Num

It would be offensive for many historical reasons.

I think when black-face is used like this, it bothers me. However, if a white person wants to go as Barack Obama for Halloween and covers themselves in bronzer, I don't think it's a big deal. Unless you're using "black-face" like it used to be used (which... it seems that way in this article) I don't think it's racist.

Well im option c because on one hand it could be looked at as art and on the other it can be looked at as disrespect due to the history of blackface. You should ask for a poll from black people and see how they feel, that's what matters I think.

That doesn't look like traditional blackface, though. It looks like the designer wanted to have the model make a statement that has nothing to do with race.

I wish I could say "ain't no one got time for that" when it comes to worrying about something so asinine. Who the f**k cares.

There are bigger issues in life than a model slathered in face paint.

I don't think that was their intention. They should be thinking how it would be perceived internationally but apparently they didn't.
