you guys would CRINGE at the way my neighbors talk to their kids. the dad screams the F word at his 3,6,8, and 13 y/o everyday when he gets annoyed at them. and they have no filter when it comes to swears. this is what made me post this topic because I was shocked hearing their 3 and 6 y/o swear like nothing

your success with a 5 yr old is not an indicator of your success with your teen. I'm NOT saying you wont be successful.
While there are some similarities in how they test, teens do it in a far different and more consequential way. but, you can treat me like I either don't have my own child or that she is an oppressed or suppressed passive kid.

I believe you were the one that thought it would be so funny if she called her teacher a douchebag. Nice. I come from a family of teachers and I assume wouldbe one that they roll their eyes about.

poor kids.
I'm around foul-mouthed kids a fair amount for my business. it's tough for the parents of the other kids that don't want that influence. I had a conversation about a couple of the kids and their mouths a few hours ago. It's awful.

btw, I apologize for the awful sentence structure in the above :-)

No that was I'm his Amy :)

But I would find it amusing if my daughter In some way insulted her teacher in an articulate way. Which I can see her doing in the future. Again... Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't show her my amusement, but doesn't mean I can't laugh about it on the inside.

And as you said so yourself... I don't have a teenager yet. So why would I answer a question speaking as though I have a teenager? The question at hand wasn't about teenagers. It was about every children at any age. No specifications were talked about. So I talked and am discussing my 5 yo.

And whose to say she will be a disrespectful little brat when she is a teenager? You don't know that and all children teenagers adult etc. are different. No two are the same. You can think and say what you want. But that won't change the fact that she's 5. Not 15 yet, give it 10 years then come back to me. And she will most likely still be the same respectable child she is now. Just probably already graduated with honours :)

No joke. She puts her whole class to shame!

And yup, I'm the one that said I can see my kid calling his teacher a douche. Because we say stuff like that playfully here. Like "Why you bein' such a douche" or "You're such a jackass" hell I call my husband an asshole and he says thank you. That's just our family dynamics. We even call our female dog a bitch on occasion, as in the term for a female dog. Sue me.

If she continues doing well this year... We are talking about just moving her straight to third grade instead of second. She's already doing grade 2 and 3 work.

She is pretty bored. She always asks for more work when she gets home. This holiday (she goes back to school next Wednesday) she has been asking for work from her Naplan workbooks and she has been doing them. The start at year 3.

I can only hope it continues and she excels. And puts her knowledge to good use and just doesn't waste it.
