What kind of sports for 3.5 year old? Gone 17 kids; Miami, FL, United States 15414 posts

My son goes to preschool 2x a week but doesn't go to any other activities. We've done clubs at the library before but I'm looking into sports now. He loves swimming, so I was thinking of that but I don't know if it's worth it because he is learning very well just with us teaching him. The one I found that seems the most practical is a 6 week program that introduces preschoolers to like 5 different sports. He desperately wants to do MMA (I know, lol) but the closest place is in the middle of the city and we live like 25 minutes out of the city so IDK about that. Any suggestions?

How about karate? My son wants to start doing karate and I looked into the lessons they aren't too pricey.

I have a 3 year old son and he plays t-ball and is on a bumper bowling league. He loves both!

I was thinking that too because karate is a part of MMA and there are so many more karate places that are local and I wouldn't have to go into the city. I know a couple of them only take kids over 5 years old though

For summer they only have soccer in the middle of the day on Thursdays, which is one of the days I can't work from home :(

My 4 year old just started t-ball. He's been doing soccer since last year. Now he does t-ball and soccer and he wants to start karate and swimming this summer.

I've never tried soccer with any of my kids, my oldest I don't think would like it but my youngest I think would love it. He loves anything to do with a ball LOL We usually do swimming lessons in the summer

yeah its cute! The league her will allow them to join as long as they can pick a ball up off the return and throw it down the aisle by themselves. He started in the summer last year and he picks up an 8lb ball no problem and chunks it down the lane

That's cute! I think my son would probably like it.
Do your stay with your kids for all of the activities? I know some places actually prefer the parents are away from the action and then others prefer the parents to be involved so I don't really know what to expect for that

yeah we stay and watch. During the league bowling they don't allow anyone down on the tile area but the bowlers. But all the parents watch from the carpet

Do a mixed sports wherever is cheapest. At 3.5 don't expect too much.. my DD spent the whole 6 weeks of soccer picking flowers
