Are there any anxiety meds you can take during pregnancy?

Not sure but I'm trying to go off of my meds right now and it's crap. Literally miserable from the withdraw symptoms

What do you take? Have you talked with your doctor about going off?!

I've been taking Fluoxitien (sp?) during my entire pregnancy. My anxiety has been getting worse though so I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor before the baby is born.

There are some options that are safer than others. Talk to your doctor. My doctor said the most common side effects usually are increased risk of miscarriage, low birth weight and premature delivery. Dont ever stop taking something cold turkey. I stopped all my meds when I got pregnant this time and the withdrawl symtoms were horrible.

I'm on Pristiq. I have talked to him and he is trying to ween me off. The problem is that if I don't take it every single day the withdraw kicks in and by the end of the first day I'm off it my face is numb, I'm sick and I'm shaky. They called me in some Zofran to see if that would help but I think it's just going to suck until my body gets used to it.

I started having panic attacks @ around 27 weeks. they gave me Zoloft and Ativan. The Ativan was such a low dose that it didn't really help and the Zoloft made things worse. I ended up going back on my pre pregnancy antidepressant ( Wellbutrin ) and supplemented with some benedryl at bed time until it kicked back in. benedryl is actually like a "poor man's" anti anxiety medicine. not a great thing to take long term, but in a pinch it does help. talk to your OB they don't like you to flood the baby with stress hormones if they can help it.

I took Zoloft when pregnant with my youngest. I blame it for all the complications at birth. He was born not breathing, low scores, unable to feed. Very scary. If you can do without it its better to suck it up. My doctor wants me to make it thru the 1st trimester and if I can manage to continue with none throughout the pregnancy. After my experience with my son I will do my best to avoid any medications.

I would say yes! That was a medication being considered for me. That's my doctor though...every doctor has a different view. I dont see them taking you completely off of it though!

I was taking 0.25 mg of xanax upon attacks when I conceived as long as you don't abuse it I don't see why they would! :) I'd say if it were a very dose would be the only time they cut down on it anyway.
