I started the depo shot in February of 2012 my last shot was due on the 21st of April (2 days ago) but I'm not planning on getting it.

SO and i have decided to TTC. So my question is what do i expect?
When will i have a period and when will i actually be able to get pregnant?
I hear it can take up to a year to conceive after depo and im worried since i was on it for over a year that it will take longer.
Any advice is welcome, TIA! :)

Well, if your shot is overdue, it's really just a waiting game at this point but I have heard it takes a loooong time for your body to start ovulating again after the depo.

I was on the pill and it took me two or three years to start ovulating again after I stopped... and that was only because I got proactive about making myself regular again. I hope you don't have those issues, they really suck.

That's what I'm worried about :(
I wish i never got it, i didn't know it had such long term affects.

Yeah, I hate the depo for that reason. My friend was on it and they started TTC but weren't successful for like two years... her doctor never even mentioned anything about the long term effects.

What made me start ovulating was Vitex. If you want to look into that... maybe it'll get your body back on track faster.

Honestly Depo messes with your system I would reccomend 3 months of the pill to help regulate your hormones if you don't get pregnant in the first couple of months.

Yeah my doctor never told me this stuff, she acted like i could get pregnant right away.
I'll check into that. Thank you.

I read that the pill does help with getting a period back.
I guess if AF doesn't show within the next few months I'll do that.

I was on the depo shot for two years. When I stopped getting the shots we weren't TTC but I knew we'd want to in a couple years so I got off to clean out my body. I got my last shot in March '09 and got my first period in Sept '09. We didn't want a baby yet so I went on the pill. We started trying in Oct '10 and got pregnant in Jan '11. I'm so glad I went off early so my body was ready when we started TTC.
OP everybody is different but you shouldn't expect to get pregnant right away since your body needs time to flush out its system.
