My cousins ex who was the mother of his 6 year old son was taken off life support yesterday after a sudden heart issue. He is now faced with telling his son that his mom is gone and he is unsure how to go about breaking the news, any advice would be helpful and appreciated.

OMG I can't even imagine how to begin a conversation like that.

I know i feel so bad for him. He told my grandmother today that he wanted to go see his mom to see if she felt better. It all happened so fast she went to the hospital with stomach pain and a few days later she was gone

First I have to say I'm sorry for the loss. It's hard especially when a young child is involved. I personally have never been through something like this and feel weird for posting a link but maybe this will help?

Is there a counselor at the child's school he can talk to for advice on how to have that conversation? or any other resources like a therapist or if they're religious a pastor, someone that has dealt with a situation like this before?

That's so incredibly sad :(

Im not sure if he is religious or not but I would just tell him that mommy had to go to heaven but that she loves him very much and will always be with him. And that even tho he can't see her or hear her she can see and hear him and is always with him protecting him and loving him with all her heart.

I'm very sorry for your loss <3

I had to tell my kids about their dad. I said that he was very very sick and the people tried to do their best but the sickness got too be too much for his body to handle.... it's very very hard to tell a child that... there are some good books geared towards kids and loss too

I am sure there is a school counselor. I don:t know how willing my cousin is to seek outside of the family help though.

I know there's also books that talk about it, maybe that would be another option?

THIS!!! My Uncle passed away before his 2nd son was born and his oldest was around 4-5ish (different moms BTW) and they both told them this right here. And always answered their questions age appropriate as well. So sorry for your guys loss. SO heart breaking
