So I was loooooving the Insanity workout. I felt so worked and so accomplished. For the past week though, I've been noticing my knee hurting more and more. I pushed through it for another week, but it's to the point where I am limping all of the time, have a knee brace on, and am living on advil and aleve.

So....What do I do for cardio that wont hurt me anymore? I cant do jumping jacks or jump rope, or anything that involves jumping anyways because I pee if I jump. (thanks, kids!).

I want something easy on my knees... I have an elliptical. Is that safe for knees?

Elliptical is good on the knees. I'm also a big fan of kettlebell workouts.

Do you have a pool near-by?

I have a build up of cartilage in my knee, and it is hard on it to do a lot of exercises. My doctor recommended swimming, it's amazing.

What kind of symptoms do you have for that? Mine hurts if I bend it, or if I stand straight and lock my knees. It's ridiculous at the moment.

My MIL has a pool, but she's about 30 mins away. :? We thought about putting one in the backyard, but they're spensive.

I bought an elliptical for my knees. Turns out when I use it they feel like they are going to explode. I agree with the pool, it is a great work out. Do you have a gym that has a pool?

I have a lump just below my knee. When I work out too much it throbs, bending it kills me and I ended up blowing my work-out because I would have to rest it for 2-3 days before I could even walk normally.

No. :( We're in a small suburb of Phoenix (about 30 mins away) and we have one teeny tiny gym in a strip mall. I dont know what to do. I guess I'll stick to pilates or something until my knee heals.

I dont even know when to seek help for it. How long should I give it before it's doctor visit worthy?

I tore cartilage in my knee in January while working out and had the same symptoms you're describing. I was in a straight brace for a little over a month and had to keep it elevated and alternated heat and ice, every day, for two months, along with Naproxen (anti-nflammatory). It juuuust has gotten back to where I can work out again, and I incorporated knee strengthening exercises from YouTube and it feels a lot better. I hope you get some relief soon! Knee injuries suck and if you don't take care of them immediately they can really screw up your knees.

Holy cow. Glad you're feeling better now.I do have a brace, and I am taking naproxen, but it's not really working super well. It IS swollen though. Did you see a doctor or just handle it on your own? Did you wear your brace to bed too?

I went to the campus clinic since I don't have insurance and they sent me to the ER for a brace. I was supposed to have an MRI but I'm poor enough without paying for that. I wore the brace from about an hour after I got up until about an hour before bed. I work on my feet and go to school so I have to stand and walk everywhere. The first week or so I used crutches. When I went to the store I used one of the motorized carts and felt like a jackass  but yeah, I mostly dealt with it on my own because I could do what they would tell me to do, for free. I'm doing yoga every day along with squats and lunges and it's holding up!
