My original due date was April 29th. On April 1st, I had a dream that my water broke and I was going around telling everyone about how terrified I was that my water would break early..especially while I was at work! My job is very active and I was still working full time- 8 hour days on my feet.
On April 2nd at around 230pm I started feeling some leaking. I felt it twice and decided I might be peeing myself so I went to the restroom. Came out, but I kept feeling it! I was still in denial, but decided to leave work and go get checked out anyway.
I got home, showered, and scrambled to get things ready (I had nothing ready at this point!). I never thought my water breaking would be an issue because my daughter came on her due date and my water had to be broken. Anyway, I got to the hospital and even when they did the test to check if it was my water, they still weren't sure because it was very faint. So my OB came in and checked me. At this point (around 5 pm) I was 2 cm and 70% effaced. My OB couldn't tell if it was my water until she pulled her hand out and it started dripping like crazy.
We went ahead with an induction and my contractions didn't start kicking in until about an hour later. When I was 4 cm, I went ahead and got the epidural. It was such a peaceful labor and I was progressing great.
Fast forward till around 230 am..my nurse decided to do a practice push and decided baby was definitely ready. OB came in a little later and I started pushing. About 30 seconds later and no tears, baby Isaac was born at 244 am on April 3rd (36 weeks 2 days). He was 5lbs 14 oz, and 19 inches long. He came out and I heard a small cry, but then he didn't want to take another breath. They had to call a code pink. I can recall my doctor saying "going on 5 minutes now". It was the scariest moment of my life not knowing if my baby would be okay. Fortunately, he started breathing and they took him straight to the Nicu. He had a small tear in his lung and some other issues, but thankfully he was able to soar through every problem and was released on the third day. He is a little blessing for sure! No other problems so far and he already weighed 7 lbs 2 oz at his 2 week check up.
Today he is 3 weeks old and breastfeeding like a champ. He is so sweet and such a good baby! Thank you for reading :)
