My doctors have been talking of inducing me sicne 34 weeks.
I am now 39 and they still want to, they told me yesterday that her body is measuring in at different measurements, like her head is 3-4 weeks behind something else is like 2 weeks behind.
They dicussed induction today and i got to choose my dare. friday or tuesday (a day before im due) I figured the longer the better right? and chose tuesday, my family are pretty upset that i chose tuesday and keep asking why don't i switch to just get it over with.
I was even called selfish, for only thinking of myself!
They want me to have an ultrasound and i had one for tuesday but now i need it for Monday, they have no openings until may 6th, and my mother even called the office and tried to tell the lady i wanted to change my date for friday!

Also, when your induced, do you feel natural contractions? do they keep the pitocin on all the time?? i'm already 3 CM dilated.
I Hope i got into labor on my own! Pray for me please.
(She's been causing me to cramp up the past 2days)

How is it selfish to keep your baby in longer to finish developing? Christ. Hopefully you can go into labor on your own mama, good luck!

I hope so too!
It Really makes me want to cry when she was talking about she was going to break my water.
Also, that they want to force her out.
I already can't have my waterbirth.
Now i can't have going into labor on my own, so all i have last is wanting to go epi free.

Im sorry your family are the selfish ones. Definitely hope you go into labor on your own. It shouldnt be to bad if you are already 3cm. I had to have an induction for medical reasons, wasnt dialated at all or contracting nothing and it was brutal. They started the pitocin on Tuesday morning and I didnt have him until Thursday night.

You have to be your own advocate. Remember, they can't force you to do anything.

I can completely understand keeping baby in as long as possible but if your baby is iugr and not growing properly it is best to get baby out sooner so they can determine and help baby grow right

Hold up, are they talking induction because they feel something is wrong with the baby and would be better addressed outside of the womb?

Everyone who said something to you needs to realize that it's not about them or anyone BUT the baby. The more time the baby can get to develop, the better.

having read some of the other comments, at times it is not better for baby to stay put untill he/she decides to arrive. Im sure they are advising you what they think the best thing for baby is, as if baby is not developing at the expected rate their could be problems with the placenta and the flow of nutrients etc. At the end of the day it is your deciscion and it sounds like the doctors have been great at letting you pick the date as close to your due date as possible, giving you the chance to go into natural labour. As you are already 3cm dialated there is a good chance that you will go into labour naturally and you wont need to much to get your body going. The more anxious you are about the process the worse it will be, not all inductions are horrible and some are very much needed. Good luck and I hope you have a great labour and enjoy meeting your new little one.

It sounds like you are dealing with a complicated decision and if a few days really made a difference I'm sure the Dr. would have insisted that you took the friday date. I hope that all goes well and that you update us when your sweet babe arrives.

Totally agree w/this.....my 4th baby was induced at 37wks for iugr . She was 5lbs 11oz & 17in......my 2 children that can naturally b4 her @ 37wks were both close to 7lbs and both 19in long. Drs said she was very slowly gaining weight but not length.

my induction was AMAZING!! I dont think your being selfish though but the again the doctors measurements can be wrong too. i dont believe anything they say after they told me my daughter was positive for spina bifida and she was born just fine. I have pregnant with twins not sure if the contractions are the same for a single pregnancy but of course they hurt
