My induction was horrible. They insisted on it ONE day after my due date which was absurd, our family is known for overcooking our fetuses by WEEKS, and all her fluids were FINE. But I was barely 18 and didn't know I could tell them to fuck off. It took three days of inducing with two different types of things, and then the baby finally went into distress after they broke my water >.< I was in active labor for 12 hours before she went into distress a third time and they took me in for a csection.

Tell your family THEY are being selfish, that the doctors gave YOU the option for what day would work best for you and it is YOUR choice what your baby's birth day will be and the doctors support the day you chose and maybe even tell them to stfu while you are at it :) Your mother DEFINITELY overstepped the boundaries by trying to get the date changed herself. Mine would lose visitation privileges while I was in the hospital if she did that crap.

Honestly, i believe thier all myths.
I've been walking like crazy, but still sitting at 3 CM for about 3-4 weeks now.
Same with sex. i believe you can only go when your ready, but it'll still be fun to try things.
Also, i don't have any stairs.
But, this morning i woke up with really bad cramps on my side, that i've never felt before, labor pains maybe?

Quoting 6 blessings so far....:" the drs may be trying to convay to you that the baby is ''fine'' now but the potential for medical problems ... [snip!] ... correctly or you arent understanding them correctly which means you need 2 ask more questions or word them differently......"

But its not even problems they are saying is possible.
I'll come in and they will be like well "baby grew, so were not looking at IUGR anymore. she's healthy only a tad bit small but it could be her genetics. now we still want to induce you before.. blah blah
So i'll ask if she's healthy, doing everything you want to see why?
"Well because..."
and it's a new reason every time.

Also, My mothers telling me i'm not going to be able to shower while staying in the hospital?
Why wouldn't i be able to?
She also tried talking me out of packing a hospital bag, saying i wouldn't be there but a day, cause she wasn't in for a full day.
My dad said she was being stupid about that part, but he said the no showering part is true.

Umm you will be there more then a day pack a bag ready for a few days even and inless you just have the most stupid hospital ever you CAN take a shower. I just had my daughter 18 months ago soo yeah I was able to shower and I had a bath with jets in it at my hospital and they incouraged me to get in it.

Your mother sounds like a lunatic. Stop listening to her. NOW. Also, don't take ANY advice she gives you pertaining to your newborn child either.

If they are inducing you this early, you WILL be in the hospital for WAY more than a day. Inducing you alone doesn't mean you will go into labor that day, I was past a due date and still took 3 days of inducing to go into labor. Not to mention children born before 39 week mark have numerous problems that can arise and they need to stay in the hospital, and I doubt you'll want to leave either.

You can shower and bathe in the hospital. Until your water breaks, then just showers. She's an idiot >.<

I didn't read through all the comments so forgive me if you already addressed this. But are there medical reasons for wanting to induce? If not, I say stay with the date you chose! It's your baby and if your dr has no problem waiting till then, screw what everyone else tries to say. They aren't the ones who have to go through the delivery so they don't get a say in when the baby comes. But if there are medical reasons like IUGR, it might not be in the best interest of the baby or you to wait it out. I had two IUGR babies. The first was born at 38 weeks by emergency c section bc they thought she would be still born as it was and didn't want to take the chance at waiting it out any longer. My second IUGR baby wasn't discovered that she had issues till right before my c section was scheduled. The dr decided to wait it out and although she turned out okay, had I been given a choice....I wouldn't have waited bc of the nightmare experience I went through with my first daughter. But like I said, it's ultimately YOUR choice and as long as there's no imminent danger to you or the baby....everyone else can just bend over and shut up bc it's not selfish to want to give your baby the longest possible time to grow if it's possible.

I don't know, maybe they didn't want her doing that 20 and 17 years ago when she had me and my bro, yeah i didnt plan on depending on too much advice from her.
But, she gave birth at a different hospital, the two she had me and my brother at, don't even deliever babies anymore.
I'll be 39 weeks 6 days on tuesday.

'They suspected IUGR at first, then i got another ultrasound and it sounded like they werent looking at that anymore because they said she grew, she was still a lil small, but it was probably her genetics. The OB gave another reason to induce though, then i went back to the ultrasound again and it sounds like maybe their bringing the IUGR up again, i was told she was perfect, then they tried pushing induction on me again when i said i was told she was healthy i was told then and for the first time, her body parts were measuring differnt weeks behind with her head 4 weeks.
Now, i've been feeling kind of scared lately, and wondering if i made the right choice, the doctors, its hard to know what to do, becasuse its a new thing with them everytime.
I hear she's perfect, they still wanna induce, i question it because i was just told she was healthy and its another excuse.
