born with black /blue lips and the area around his eyes are dark! he was born light skin like most babies but his complexion starting to turn dark and the tip of his ears and behind his ears are dark! im brown skin andhis father is very light! is it true that u determine the skin tone by the ears? im just asking, cause this the first i heard of it!!!!

With mixed children or black children my BD's family always told me "you can tell how dark they're gonna be by the color of their knuckles" and DS#2 is barely lighter than his :/

Does it matter what color he is? Will you love him any less if he is darker or lighter?

She's probably just genuinely curious.
I got told having mixed children my babies would be born white; they were brown.

She just wants to kno if that's gonna determine her baby's color. But u wouldn't know about this because ur not black.

You don't have to be black to know that. I'm not black and I know it...

Most babies of African American or nationalities that have deeper complexions are typically born with light complexions and darken as they get older. Sometimes you can tell by looking at the tips of their little ears or the skin around their fingernails.

I've never heard of black/blue lips unless there was an oxygen issue during birth. My DD was born blue and had to be resuscitated at birth. Is that what you mean?

I hope he's doing ok being born so early!! Congrats!

Come on.......really!!? that's a judgemental statement! Its the exact same thing as a mom wondering what color her newborns eyes or hair will turn out to be, as its sometimes hard to tell at birth. it doesn't mean she will love child more or less!

My eldest was the same, he had underdeveloped lungs and respiratory problems

Did you really just type "kno" and "ur"? Wow.

OP: I've heard that you can tell by the darker areas of their skin. However, baby was probably born with dark lips and eye area due to oxygen deprivation not necessarily genetic coloration.
