Couldn't find HB Shannee Due October 5; 2 kids; Calgary, Alberta 145 posts

Went to my 16 week appt and my doc couldn't find the HB. Called in another doctor to try and he couldn't find it also, however they could hear the placenta. She said may be hard to find because the placenta
May be in front of the uterus or below it (placenta previa). I have a ultrasound first thing tomorrow morning. Anyone else have something similar happen to them and have placenta previa or their placenta was in front of the uterus and the baby was fine? I'm not to worried but also a little scared!

Did they hear the heartbeat in the umbilical cord?

I'm not sure but they did hear the swooshing sound of the placenta.

This happened when I was pregnant with DD2. I know how you feel hon :(. It worried me to death all night long. When I had my ultrasound everything was totally fine.

Yep, I had an anterior placenta. They couldn't find my daughters heart beat until I was 26 weeks and the placenta had moved out of the way some lol.

This just happened to me at my last appt so my doctor brought in their portable ultrasound machine and found that my baby was hiding behind the placenta. The whole time she was looking for a heartbeat I was getting nervous cuz they didn't think I would carry this baby. Good luck!!

Quoting Shannee:" Went to my 16 week appt and my doc couldn't find the HB. Called in another doctor to try and he couldn't ... [snip!] ... previa or their placenta was in front of the uterus and the baby was fine? I'm not to worried but also a little scared!"

Idk if my placenta is in the way or not but I have had a lot of times where I can just barely find the heart beat. I would say the fact that the dr can find the placental blood flow with the doppler....that should be a good sign! Hope everything turns out fine with your baby!
