Anybody make their own? I was looking at some things at the health food store and found they had containers for one to make their own butters and chapsticks ETC. My question is if you do something like that, what is your process? What are your ingredients? What is the base of the mixture? If I used Coconut oil, would I have to heat up the mixture everytime I applied? I read on a bottle that if you wanted to use coconut oil as a skin butter you had to heat it up. Any ideas?

You never have to heat coconut oil. It melts in your hand. I use cocnut oil alone for everything. I don't use lotions I just slather coconut oil on my skin. I use it as Chapstick too. A website I like for making things if you feel like getting fancy (I don't really like to complicate things, which on the website I feel like he does a little, I prefer the simple route haha). But it's wellnessmama.com

I make a lot of my own stuff like shampoo/conditioner (no poo), body wash, trying to figure out a good deodorant still haven't had luck yet, hair gel, my kids also use no poo and homemade body wash and coconut oil. I have homemade laundry detergent and fabric softener as well as all purpose cleaner. I really have tried to completely eliminate chemicals in my home. I am gonna try out toothpaste once I get switched to homemade deodorant completely. I usually I torsuce one new item at a time. I also use cloth dipes and homemade cloth wipes.

and the brown sugar will melt on my skin? I thought that would be more for a body scrub than a butter but I honestly have no clue lol

Ha! It would be a scrub thats what I was thinking. Just use coconut oil for a butter. I used it all over my belly when I was pregnant!

Yeah I was using Tom's aluminum free for awhile and had to reapply it constantly... Plus, there were still a lot of ingredients I wasn't comfortable with. I'm all for natural but don't necessarily want to BE au naturel! Haha!! Still gotta shave and be stink free!
