I'm tired of being told to get on state insurance... I don't need it and I'd feel bad mooching off the state. I just have questions about the plan I'm looking at.

1. What is coinsurance? Someone said it's secondary or your partner's insurance. If I don't have secondary insurance and my partner doesn't have any (we're not married anyway) do I disregard this part? It says coinsurance 100%/70%. Not sure what that means, at all.

2. It says I pay 30% out-of-network. If my midwife (who's delivering my baby at home) is out of network, does this mean I only pay 30% of all costs? Am I missing something? That seems too good to be true.

3. What the hell is a deductible?

I sorta blindly chose my last insurance plan, didn't do me any good. This time I want to be more informed and choose something that suits my needs better. I have a two year old so something that covers check-ups, emergency visits, dental, and prenatal would be preferable. My last insurance only covered two prenatal appts.

This is the plan in more detail if it helps any.

If you can help it would mean the world to me. TIA!

I pulled the plan up and if you don't have coinsurance, ignore that!

It looks like in network you have to pay 5000 before anything gets covered on top Of your premium and then they will cover 100%! Out-of-network you have to pay 10,000 and then they will cover 70% and you pay 30%! When I read the bottom see exclusions were dental and prenatal meaning they don't cover dental or prenatal care. Dental is usually a whole separate plan! I would call Signa about the prenatal plan!

Also as a side note I had CIGNA and they suck

1: It is the amount you are obligated to pay. You pay coinsurance plus your deductible. Here is what I found: Your share of the costs of a covered health care service, calculated as a percent (for example, 20%) of the allowed amount for the service. You pay co-insurance plus any deductibles you owe. For example, if the health insurance or plan

What would you suggest for someone who will need lots of prenatal care? We want a lot of kids haha. I've always wanted a big family like I grew up with and we want at least 3 more eventually

To be honest I LOVED blue cross blue sheild! We just paid our premium and copayments I think they were 25 for each appointment! Prenatal was covered 100% I just had a 250$ copayment for the hospital, everything else was good! I would and talk to a couple of insurances and what is the best for what you want! Honestly for good insurance you are going to pay out the ass! :(

Not to be nosy but how much does a plan like that run you a month? Right now it would just be my son and I covered on it

But in Ma I believe our premium was like 1200 a month, unsure though because we have had sky high premiums since Romney!
