My SIL's cousin's funeral was yesterday. I finally feel at peace knowing that she had been laid to rest. It was a traditional Native American funeral. We let the fire burn for 3 days (that's how long it takes the soul to travel to the spirit world). We smoked from the peace pipe, people told stories about her, we said Ojibwe prayers, made offerings, had a drum circle. It was just really...peaceful. As we were driving home we saw an eagle circling above us in the sky. It was beautiful.
Just wanted to share. Despite how chaotic the last week has been, it's nice to know that everyone has some closure now. That we could all get together to celebrate her life.
Rest in peace, Theresa. Baammaappii.
