Okay so we just got a cat and his name is Lucas. . . my son keeps calling him Lupus, he can't say Lucas for some reason, and he says he hates the cat and when you ask why he says it's his name. So to keep the peace I was thinking of renaming him to Ash, you know from Pokemon, our dog's name is Brock, also from Pokemon, so I thought it would be cool. I'm only hesitating because I don't want him to think I'll rename everything or change everything because he doesn't like it. The cat came with the name thought and honestly I don't even really like it, but I was going to keep it because well it's his name. Although cats don't really care about names unlike dogs so I don't think as far as that goes it would be a problem.
So what do you guys think, to keep the peace and so he would get along with the cat should I change his name. None of us like the current one anyway and we've only had him a day.
Change it if everyone hates it.

I'm just worried he'll see that as a power thing, that he has some power over us. I don't know maybe I worry too much?
I see where you are coming from but if you let him know that the cat has a new family so you are starting fresh with a new name and going with the pokemon thing, I don't think he'll think he had anything to do with that

Oh good idea, I didn't think of saying it that way. Thank you ^_^
You're very welcome. :)
