Is this diaper rash? Help! Ellie Goulding 1 child; London, --, United Kingdom 4760 posts

LO has had it for like 2 solid weeks, and usually Butt Paste takes care of diaper rash in just a few applications. He's also just getting over thrush... could it be a yeast infection? I have a ton of Nystatin (sp?) ointment and have been putting it on religiously, alternating with regular cream and still no improvement. Could it be chemical irritation from the diaper? Ahh. My mom's like, "take him to the doctor!!" but I think that's pointless unless it's something I cannot treat at home. Any ideas? Advice?

Thanks ladies.
I wonder why the Nystatin isn't working.
Is there anything else I can use to treat it? Would you go to the doc if you were me?

Have you tried coconut oil? The unrefined, cold pressed, virgin stuff?

I only say this, because DD gets a horrible yeast rash every time she is in disposables (which is why we cloth diaper), and my mom was watching her for a couple of days, so she ended up with yet another yeast rash. The doctor prescribed a triple paste ointment for her that contained an antifungal, but it doesn't work on her anymore.

So I switched to coconut oil. A couple of uses, and it's gone. Stuff is amazing.

OOOoooh. I'll have to try that! Do I need to go to Whole Foods or do you think they have it at like Meijer or Walmart?

I got mine at trader joes. Walmart may have it if it's a super one with the full grocery store. Ours does not.

I just got some organic cold pressed at meijer in the cooking aisle. Walmart here has it in the vitamins. If that doesn't work the lady I used to nanny for just used OTC yeast cream like youd get for your vag (store brand) for her dds butt cream.
