I had my son on the 23rd of April and during birth I tore a little. My dr said I needed only one stitch but didnt say where. When I got home from the hospital I looked with a mirror and I tore the bottom of my left lip. Its a TINY tear. Well it hurts so bad down there I thought no way could that be it and really looked around down there well when I spread the lips I have a HUGE gash on my inner left lip and vaginal wall. My thing is...its not stitched...its wide open. Anyone else have this and not get stitched? Should I call my dr on Monday? It hurts, how is it going to heal if its not stitched?

You need to call you OB and have him/her stitch it! I cant believe they missed that! They shouldve checked better. I tore with both but after my second, the tear was small. My MW said she would stitch it but I didnt want her to, it healed up by itself but like I said, it was small and on my perineum...I would def. have it looked at!

As long as you don't mess with it, and don't have sex, it should be ok and heal on its own. It's like getting a cut on your finger. You don't always have to go and get stitches, and the skin will come back together on its own.
I know this may seem like a weird question but how familiar are you with the way your stuff looks? What you think is a gash could just be normal anatomy adjusted after having a baby. I'm sure if it was a really bad tear your doctor would have stitched it. But if you are concerned then call them when you can and see what they have to say.

Are you sure it's a cut/tear, not just stretching? I would call either way, though, just to be safe.

So I just googled it and it is a Labia Minora tear. After hearing the name I remember hearing my dr say that to a nurse. So she definatly saw it and just didnt stitch it? Some women that posted about it say that it didnt heal correctly and some say it did without stitches....UGH so I guess its normal she didnt stitch it....waiting game to see if mine heals correctly is going to be hell. :(

I would just make your to keep your legs together as much as possible so you dont pull the skin apart, kwim? Maybe it will help it heal correctly? Thats what my MW told me to do since I didnt have her stitch me up.
