So my mamal just got back from visiting my Aunt Janet(her sister) in South Carolina and she came back with all kinds of goodies for my mother and me. Now mind you my Aunt Janet is a throw back to the good ole days she lives on a pecan farm and grows and cans about 80% of her own food. She sent my mamal home with a jar of her homemade Strawberry Fig jelly (sadly she didnt have any plain strawberry left which happens to be my favorite thing she makes), a jar of homemade Apple Butter (SO will be happy lol), two jars of homemade Chow Chow (think pickled cabbage and peppers another one of SOs favorites), and most surprisingly of all her recipe for her Chow Chow! My mamal has been trying to get my Aunt Janet to come off that recipe for the last 15 years or more and she never would. But for some reason this time she decided to share the recipe with the family at long last now mind you I dont eat the stuff never would but it just makes me feel special that she finally decided to share it and I was one of the luck few who she chose to share it with.

Quoting Kimber-lily:" mmm I love chow! My Nanny used to make the best. "

Ive never really liked the stuff Im far to picky of an eater to even think about eating it but I love that she has finally shared the recipe with us. I know my SO loves the stuff and Im sure the boys will love it to so its good that I can finally make it for them even if I wouldnt think about touching the stuff myself lol.
