Anyone on here practice elimonation communication? I never see anyone talk about it...but there has to be some crunchy mama's other than myself doing it!!!

If so, what was your experience doing it?

For those scratching their heads:
Elimination communication (EC) is a practice in which a caregiver uses timing, signals, cues, and intuition to address an infant's need to eliminate waste (usually starting from birth).

I did it with my son when he was about 7 months. We had a bit of success but we did end up potting training at 25 months. At 3 years old he has tons of accidents.

Wow, you'd have to like never leave your child's side though...?

Babies don't pee or poop constantly. And I was with him all day anyway.

I agree. It was easier in the summer when I just left him naked.

I don't leave my child's side much anyway lol. She goes once an hour. When a family member is with her they go once an hour.

Well if you have the time/patience for it, sounds pretty cool.

I never really stopped. I just focused on it more during Summer months. I don't regret it because I saved on washing diapers but I would have liked to have been out of diapers completely. I will do it with future children. I still use it with him being 3, for example he has a certain look in his eyes when he is about to poop and he fidgets when he has to pee. I remind him to feel his body and go to the bathroom. Maybe this is why we have such a problem with him going on his own but he was accident free for 6 months then started with the accidents so it may be unrelated to ECing.
