Quoting Jeeper:" DD is 9 months old and has been getting 100% juice since she was 4 months old (and before anyone "lectures" ... [snip!] ... breast milk and 3 sippy cups of water. I would say your okay to give LO juice as something sweet for her to drink as a treat."

Thanks.

Love when people ignore all advice except what they want to hear. Why ask for it if you are just going to whatever the hell you want anyway.

Before you start being an asshole. YOU know what's best for YOUR child and I know what's best for mine. My son has a VERY serious and rare medical condition he has to take HIGHLY concentrated sodium supplements 4 times a day. Along with a few other meds. Some days its the only way we can get him to take it. SO before you go judging other peoples parents check yourself.

Well, if you didn't go getting him addicted to juice maybe he'd be fine with drinking water lol Giving them juice is not what is "best" for any child. As it was stated above, you are setting your child up to crave junk. Every parent should be aware of these things and want to give their child the best start in life. I didn't judge anyone, I gave advice and your passive aggressive post rubbed me the wrong way.

Since when is juice junk? I buy 100% fruit juice. The pediatrician wants her drinking it for the extra vitamins. I guess I would be giving DD "junk" if I gave her an apple too smh. I suppose if I told you that the pediatrician wanted her getting V8 juice too you would tell me how abusive I am for allowing my child to drink v8. I don't understand everyone's tirade against juice its just fruit in liquid form at least its not soda or koolaid.

So give her a vitamin to much fruit isn't good either.

She gets a vitamin every single day. She is also ordered to drink :gasp: a sippy cup of apple of grape juice a day and I am supposed to be giving her v8 juice every day :gasp: again but that shit be super expensive and I can't afford it so I give her carrot juice with dinner and some extra veggies. But I guess you know more then my pediatrician that has been in practice for 20 years

Have you ever read what is in your 100% juice? Or V8? It's not healthy, it's crap. Unless you are blending it at home you are not getting vitamins from juice. I would be looking for a different doctor if he is giving that type of advice.

Not every doctor is up to date on current recommendations. Thats why I do my own research and take information into account and make educated informed choies. Doctors aren't always right you know.

Welchs grape juice claims it is "100%" fruit juice...read the label...Grape juice concentrate, grape juice, citric acid (for tartness), ascorbic acid (vitamin C). That is not 100% juice. If it is 100% juice it will not be concentrated and have additives, the only ingredient will be fruit.

I will just stick to getting advice from my doctor thank you. Considering she treated me and my brothers when we were babies and has people that literally drive from other states just to see her I am going to trust that she is giving me good recommendations over someone on the internet that feels they know best
