My son will be turning 5 months old in 9 days. He started sleeping through the night at 2 months, but at 4 months started waking up between 3-5am. We started giving him a bottle at 10-11 to help him make it through the night. That worked wonderfully until a couple days ago. Two nights ago he woke up every 2-3 hours. I thought it was a one time thing. Last night we put him to bed around 8. He just kept screaming. Like the kind of screaming that he does when he gets spooked. Full on wailing/tears etc. He finally fell asleep after trying to console him for an hour or two. He woke up at 10:45 pm, (we gave him a bottle at 1:30am before we went to bed) 3:30 am, 5:30 am, 6:30 am, 8:30 am, 9:30 am. Every time he woke up he wasn't just fussing or crying. He was full on wailing. What is going on?1
Is he sleeping in your room?
My daughter did that, and after I put her in my room she slept a LOT better.
He may have gas. Give him a few gas drops after every bottle. I hope things get better mama!

Is he eating at all those times too? He could be going through a growth spurt
He doesn't sleep with us. He has slept in his own room from day one. He's always been a terrible napper, but a great sleeper at night. He just seems like he is in a lot of pain. Maybe his gums? Or nightmares...do babies have nightmares?
Yeah usually we give him a small bottle if he wakes up in the middle of the night. He is a big baby. At his 4 month check up he was 17 lbs and 27 inches. He has been wanting to eat more during the day too.
Babies have night terrors which us the baby is still sleeping but crying my daughter gets thoughs
I'd start feeding him cereal if you haven't already
He has been on solids for 2 months. Our pedi okayed it because of his size. The formula, nor the cereal were enough.
Sounds like he's going through a growth spurt. Not much you can do if he is. Totally normal behavior and it may or may not correct itself.
Also a possibility of teething.
It could be a couple different things. I would stick with the regular nighttime routine like you always have. Hopefully it's just a phase and will pass soon.
Thanks for the help everyone :)

Or...Feed him more at 1 time? If he's taking 4 ounces, give him 5! DS usually takes 3 ounces during the day, but I make a 4 ounce bottle at night. He ate a midnight and slept til 7 this morning! It took some trial and error, but...We're finally on the right track.
