Sorry if this is a big jumbled mess...but this is what I need help with...
It took me almost 20 weeks to find the "perfect" doctor, when I finally decided I was convinced that I had chose the best doctor in my area. I am having a high risk pregnancy and wanted someone who was knowledgeable, had a great bedside manner, and didn't push meds. The doc I found seemed to be all of those things.
Well, last week at 34 weeks I went into preterm labor and was admitted into the hospital. I was dilated to a 6 and having strong contractions 2.5 - 3 mins apart. When the nurse came in I asked if I could have some Zofran because I couldn't stop vomiting, she called the Dr. and he said the only thing he would offer me is an epidural.....REALLY?!?! That was the first thing I talked to him about, the fact that I have given birth twice with no epi and had full intentions of doing it this time.
So, 4 days later and after 2 shots of turbultine (sp?), several rounds of procardia and constant fluids my labor stopped and the nurse discharged me. My Dr never stopped back in to see me, never called with any further instructions, and hasn't returned my calls - nothing.
I am beyond pissed at what my "perfect" doctor has turned into.
I am just wanting to go to the hospital when its time and let the doc on call deliver my baby...is that ok?? I'm at a loss..I don't feel comfortable using my Dr and its too late to find another one that will accept me...anyone else been in a similar situation.
I'm sorry that that happened :(
I live in Canada, so not sure how different it would be here. But, I had two midwives for my first pregnancy, I didn't really have a choice though, my doctor was on maternity leave and no other doctors in the area would accept a new patient. I dealt with them my whole pregnancy and we just didn't get along (they called me fat, made fun of my age and marital status, so on so forth). When I went into labour they gave me castor oil to drink (I was young and stupid and didn't ask what it was), and wouldn't let me go to the hospital. So when they left my house I went to the hospital and when they were called up, my MIL fired them haha. I had the on-call doctor deliver my son, and it was amazing!
Good luck, and I hope you get the labour and delivery that you're hoping for!
