So I gave Peyton the pediasure sidekicks to help his diet because he doesn't eat much of anything and when he does it's the same things so I wanted to give him the pediasure to help even out his diet a bit.. I mean as much as any mom can. I gave him 1 yesterday and 1 today and noticed since then he's had really bad diarrhea, could that be from the pediasure? I don't want to him to lose a bunch of weight or anything so if it is I don't want to continue the pediasure. I mean he's not too tiny but he's not big either. He's around 22 lbs at 21 months. I was trying to help his diet but it seems like it may be causing problems....

It could be a stomach bug. Either quit and try again in a few days or keep going for a few days and then quit if it continues. Then you should at least kind of know that it is the pediasure causing the problem.

I was thinking of giving him one more tomorrow and if he still has diarrhea to stop and see if that's what's causing it or if he's just having a stomach bug of the sort.

Is he lactose intolerant? Or does he normally take in fiber? That could be causing the diarrhea

He's not lactose intolerant and he takes in fiber just fine normally.

There's a bad stomach bug going around. My son drinks Pediasure and hasn't ever had an issue like that with it. But diffeerent kids react differently to different things. I'd just test it out and see what happens. Stop giving it to him and when the diarrhea goes away give it to him again and if he gets it again it's probably the shake

Hopefully it's just a tummy bug. I hope to keep giving him the pediasure! He drinks it down like it's nothing, which is good when he doesn't eat over half the food on his plate!

I would offer it after a meal if he hasn't eaten, because it is filling and could hinder his appetite for the actual food you are offering.

It is lactose free, so it shouldn't be causing problems, but all kids are different. You could stop for a few days and reintroduce it and see how he responds.

My sons pedi recommended pediasure to actually help him gain weight and he's been drinking them for months with no problems, but he also isn't drinking the ones with fiber. so maybe thats what's causing it if it's not a stomach bug
