when did your child start climbing off furnitur- beds, couch, such. when did you feel comfortable enough to let them sit on the couch and walk out of sight?

My daughter is 15 months and I still don't like leaving her on the couch alone.
She is usually careful with how she climbs down but every so often she just walks straight off the edge! Scares the bejesus out of me, I'm always in arm reach to grab her so she doesn't get hurt for now !!! :/

DS was 12-13 months when he started climbing our couch, it's pretty tall too. DD was a bit older, maybe 14-15 months. But she cheats :) Our couch has motorized recliners, so she pushes the button to recline and climbs up the footrest part.

They both figured out how to slide down feet first on their bellies much sooner though, like 10 months old. But I honestly can't remember when I first left them unattended on the couch.

ETA: Definitely thought you asked when they started climbing ON furniture, not off lol :P

My son got off furniture at 10 months and would get down and crawl he started walking at 13 months and about 15 months I felt comfortable with him walking away from me. And my daughter is 11 months she gets off the couch and gets down and crawls. I think if everything is baby proofed they are fine to explore for the most part

Oh and for about a month I've felt comfortable to leave her on the couch. I come back in and she's jumping on it lol while holding onto it of course.

She's been doing it for a couple months now and it still cracks me up to watch. She will raise it a bit, try to get up, realize it's still too high, so goes back and lowers it, tries it out again.. and repeat till it's the perfect height lol.

Yeah, my kiddos were definitely fearless at one point and each have supermanned off the couch a few times.

how old is she? lol

DD will lay there most times but i'm still a nervous wreck and not sure i should. my mom says she does it just fine but i prefer if she's gonna climb down, i hold her arm to help her down.

Well I meant like as long as everything is baby proofed I feel comfortable with her getting down and playing and stuff. Most of the time she gets down fine but ocassionally she will fall I always pick her up to make sure shes okay but they will always fall a lot. My son was so clumsy I thought about getting him a helmet :)

DD will pick it up then slide her foot down the front of the couch. she slams her face into the cushion all excited and slapping the couch. she's wild when excited. lol

awww poor thing!

yeah she'll fall over when cruising, i'll check on her. most of the time she doesn't cry unless she's tired or doesn't feel well. if she cries i tell her to come to me. most of the time she just moves on to something else so i know she's fine.

Climbing down, about 2 weeks ago. He's sat on the couch with us for a a while. Not going to alone for a bit still. And I've let him roam as he pleases for almost 2? Months now?
