Stemming from my last post. How old is too old to have a baby? Apparently, a 70 year old woman gave birth in 2008

Rajo Devi became the oldest woman in recorded history to ever give birth on November 28, when the 70-year-old delivered a baby girl in India.
Married for 50 years, she had been trying, without success, to have a child for much of that time, until she entered menopause (which was 20 years ago). The Hindustan Times, announcing the birth yesterday, quotes her as saying :

If they can't keep up with a toddler they are way too old....... but then you need to think of death in the future. If it is nearing, why have children? They'd end up without a parent.

It is none of my business how old someone else is when they have the child... as long as they know that there is someone responsible and that they trust if anything should happen to them when the child is young that can care for that child. That would be my only feeling on it.

I mean, sadly... just because you're young doesn't mean you're going to be around for your child until they're grown, either... so I dunno.

I think 40s is pushing it. I personally wouldnt have a kid after 30.

I think whatever works for someone else is none of my business. Having kids late in life doesn't always necessarily mean you won't see your kids grow up. My great grandma is 102 and has seen two kids die. She actually just went I to a nursing home by choice last yr. but she could live on her own if she wanted to. So I don't believe age matters one bit.

You're too old to have a child after menopause, just like nature intended, I think.

I didn't think of that. I change my answer.

Exactly. My dad died when I was 2 and he wasn't old. You can lose a parent no matter how old they are

I hope to be done soon lol, at least by 30.
But if someone had the finances and feels up to it at 50 it is alright, still pushing some laws of nature though. I mean there is an increased chance of risks at that point, I actually learned in developmental psychology that there is an increased chance of risks after age 28. I am sure they increase from year to year in age.

I really don't care what age people have kids.

It doesn't affect my life.

I don't think it's anyone's business how old anyone is when they have a baby, really. You can die at any age and not see your children into adulthood. Or... You could have a baby at age 70 and live to be 100, with a 30 year old child.

Yep. My mother died when I was 10.

I think it's their own business. I hear all the time that no one should tell a woman what to do for cases like abortion or other parent choices why should this be any different? I mean she obviously wasn't crippled or bed ridden if she was still having sex. Should this thought also apply to women who have complicated pregnancy and could die as a result? It's the woman's choice on what she wants to do.

With all of the advances in medical technology, people are living longer and healthier. It's not like everyone beyond menopause is in bad health or even bad shape. As long as they're aware of the risks and are able to take care of a baby, I don't see why it's anyone else's concern.
