Can you choose who's in your kids lives and who isn't?

For example.

I HATE my BIL's fianc

Of course. I don't see why you think your kids HAVE to see her/spend time with her/call her certain things?

I think you can only have them see her at family events. My brother has a really bad drug problem so he's never even met DD. I don't want her around that.

I think when you have good reason, sure. But just cause YOU don't like her? I wouldn't. When I was about 10, my dad and his mom got into an argument over my brother's bday cake frosting flavor. I didn't see her (or my aunts and uncles) for 10 years after that. I had to reconnect with her as an adult, and ultimately became the bridge that reconnected them as well. Even still though, I'm really sad that I didn't get to share my experiences during the most influential part of my life with her. I resent my dad for not allowing us to see her. I have a cousin that I hardly know at all, and it makes me sad.

It's more then I just don't like her. I wouldn't ban someone because I just plain don't like them.

I'm sorry that happened to you though. That kind of happened with my cousin. I don't know what the disagreement was but I didn't end up meeting her until we were 15.

DH keeps telling me that I can't do that because his brother would be upset. I don't want to hurt his brothers feelings but I just can't get past things with this woman.
