Help? My son is breastfed and lately his breath has not been smelling sweet/sugar like it always has. Lately its been smelling kind of buttery, like when he spits up. This may be gross but it is sorta buttery smelling like his poop. (I assure you he is not eating his poop.) I thought maybe he had thrush so I took a washrag and tried to wipe off his tongue and the white coating did not come off. I thought if he had thrush then my nipples would hurt but my breasts are fine. Any suggestions?

Additional info:
Hes 13 months
98% BF (hardly eats any food)

Is it still normal for a 13 month old to spit up? I really didn't think so.

He hasn't spit up in a long time.

"Lately its been smelling kind of buttery, like when he spits up."

So you mean it smells buttery like when he used to spit up? Thrush makes the mouth smell like sour dough bread if that helps?

It can take thrush a little while to spread to you.

You already have natural yeast on your body but when it over grows that is when it is a problem.

I guess I should have said when he USED to spit up.

How long can it take to spread?
