Placental abruption 13 weeks :( Proud 2 B Mom 2 kids; Florida 16 posts

I'm 13 weeks 4days and had a bad bleed with 2 huge clots. I went to the hospital and they did an ultrasound. The dr said my placenta has separated a little and there's a clot above my cervix. Also may have placenta previa but it was hard to tell due to the clot. They said the baby looks good and the pregnancy looks good as well just the bleeding and the placenta. The dr told me she doesn't know how it's going to turn out :(. I'm now on strict bed rest and have to follow up this Friday. I'm worried also because when I change my pad it smells like amniotic fluid (sorry for tmi) I never had bleeding with my first 2 pregnancies so I don't know if it smells the same? They said my fluid looked fine but I'm worried I could also be leaking fluid. Has anyone has a similar experience and had a healthy pregnancy/baby? I'm so scared we're going to lose the baby. Any positive stories would be great to hear.

Did they check to see if you are leaking fluid? They can easily check that if you are concerned.

No because I'm bleeding so much they can't use the strips because its not accurate :( but they looked in ultrasound and said he sack looks intact and normal fluid level. Even if I am leaking theres nothing they can or will do at this point :( I was just hoping that blood coming from inside the uterus had a similar smell.

Well, I don't want to go into detail about what happened to me but when my placenta abrupted the blood smelt pretty much like pp bleeding and the amniotic fluid I was leaking didn't have an odor.

Good news with a leak is that as long as your overall levels are stable you can go a very long time like that and not have it affect baby, the key is to monitor yourself for signs of infection like a temp. At 11 weeks with my first I had a major bleed with no apparent cause they could find. Later at 29 weeks my water was leaking heavily and I was contracting. After going to the hospital they checked me and I started bleeding heavily again. During an u/s they discovered a previously undisguised previa and the doctor said that the 11 wk bleed I had was like the placenta tearing away a little just like it was then at 29 weeks. Obviously after the first bleed I had no further problems or they would have kept looking for a reason, but even after the episode at 29 weeks I still made it to 39 weeks

I was leaking fluids with my first child and they told me to drink plenty of fluids mainly water. I ended up having a emergency C-section due to low amniotic fluids. but the baby was fine. I never had bleeding tho.
