Does anyone have GERD/acid reflux?

What does it feel like? What helps?

I've been diagnosed with it but don't buy it, I'm in pain ALL THE TIME. Under my ribs hurts so bad, pain radiates to my side and up my back (by the shoulder blades) I also get super super sick, bad nausea, along with bad headache, fever, extreme fatigue- puts me down for about 3-4 hours.. About 5x a week! Occasionally my chest will hurt (not heartburn) and heart will race, not every time. I've gone to my OB doc, PCP, and two different emergency rooms- my PCP doesn't believe it to be acid reflux, she ran tests on my kidneys / urine analysis / blood work but the ER docs have both said that's what it is and give me antacids; which never help. Nothing makes it go away. It's been happening for 5 wks now... Progressively getting worse!

That doesn't sound like GERD/Acid Reflux to me. However there is Hiatal Hernia and the symptoms are :

  • Heartburn; regurgitation
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Chest pain radiating from below the breastbone
  • A bloated feeling after eating
  • Shortness of breath

It is slightly common in pregnancy, usually you'll have it before though and the symptoms just get worse. I get it bad while I'm pregnant, but I also get really bad Acid Reflux too.

Don't want to scare you, but gallstones or kidney stones! The symptoms are pretty identical, kidney stones can cause nausea though. I know a lot of women who get kidney stones while pregnant..

If you have symptoms, you most likely will have mild pain in the pit of your stomach or in the upper right part of your belly. Pain may spread to your right upper back or shoulderblade area. Sometimes the pain is more severe. It may be steady, or it may come and go. Or it may get worse when you eat.

  • Abdominal pain so intense that you can't sit still or find a comfortable position
  • Yellowing of your skin and the whites of your eyes
  • High fever with chills
  • Sudden and rapidly intensifying pain in the upper right portion of your abdomen
  • Sudden and rapidly intensifying pain in the center of your abdomen, just below your breastbone
  • Back pain between your shoulder blades
  • Pain in your right shoulder

Check with your doctor and see what they think!

:!:
Hope everything is ok!

I had my gallbladder removed 2yrs ago, had an ultrasound of my kidneys (that's what I thought too) I keep going from one doctor to the next, ER after ER cuz I know it is NOT acid reflux- I am getting no answers, no relief... I then thought pancreatitis (if u look up the symptoms, I have them all) but this last time at the ER (thurs night) he said the symptoms don't match and he 'checked it', by doing blood work (I find that a line of BS.. An ultrasound to see if its inflamed would've been better I think) I am so so frustrated and so uncomfortable! My PCP has been ignoring my messages since Wednesday. Ughhh :(

I' ve had some spotting this week also, u/s and fetal HB are fine. My Dr told me that as long as it doesn't get heavy w/ cramping, not to worry. Of course that is easier said than done :/

Yay! Mine is about a week after yours. And yeah with DD I had a really strong feeling she was a girl for the longest time, this time I don't really have that feeling. Like I have a feeling it's another girl but it's not the same how it was with DD. There is more doubt in my feeling and sometimes I feel it's a boy. Ugh August needs to be here already, I hate waiting lol.

I'm trying to think of ways to announce it too but more than likely DH will be in NY for work so I won't be able to do anything super fun with him being gone. :?

I might just buy some baby shoes in pink or blue and take a picture of it next to the ultrasound picture or something. Idk yet.
