I know it is normal to sometimes spot and cramp up after having your cervix checked but is it normal to lose chunks of stuff? That sounds really nasty but its hard to explain lol. I am 39 weeks and have never spotted before after being checked, i went to the bathroom afterwards and there was light pink blood but then there was gooey bright red blood then just small clumps of either discharge or blood it was hard to tell. It went away after a few wipes then i had really snotty discharge with more brown blood and am continue to have brown blood when i wipe. Also during the exam he took a lot longer than he usually does and it was much more painful. Someone told me he may have stripped my membranes but they dont just do that without asking do they? Im pretty sure it was just from the check because i have not had contractions or anything but was just confused if it was normal to get blood like that. I was thinking it could be my mucous plug because of the snotty discharge that came with it. Did anyone lose theirs right after being checked? Sorry so long im a new mom and just very confused haha.

I first thought of your OB stripping your membranes, yes it can happen that permission is not sought. Was your cervical check painful?

But it could also be your bloody show. Labor could be soon! I started labor as soon as I had my bloody show.

Yes it was pretty painful and it usually doesnt bother me at all getting my cervix checked any other time. I thought it was my bloody show also but it was a laundry day & i had to go commando so it was hard to tell bcuz i was wearing dark pants lol. But either way i guess labor may be on its way soon then? It just kinda upsets me if he did strip them without even asking me.

Yeah it would piss me off too. It does sound like your membranes were stripped in that case :/. But yeah sounds like labor is immminent. Hot water is a very very helpful pain reliever :)

I would personally call your doctor and ask if he stripped your membranes. It is not legal for them to do that without your permission. It may be though, that your cervix is low but posterior so he just had a harder time checking it so it took longer. You are also more sensitive down there the closer you are to labor. Sounds like bloody show though.

More than likely its your plug. Doesn't mean you'll go into labor in the next 24 hours or anything but many people do

it may not be "right" or whatnot but it would be a waste of her time if there is no injury to her or the fetus because the Dr. will just say oh I'm sorry I'll ask next time

I agree there really is no point calling i cant ask him to put it back lol but if i make it to my next appointment i am going to ask if he did because i think he should of at least told me but i dont really think it is call worthy theres nothing he can do if it has already been done but apologize.

I think i am leaning more towards a bloody show i really love my doctor and have never had an issue like that before with him so it just doesnt seem like he would go and due that without asking me but i guess you never know.

No, but it could cause problems so her complaining might scare him into not doing that again. And if there was problems, she could actually sue. It is not legal to do that. At least if she is in the US it isn't. Personally I do not take that crap lightly because there are so many doctors that seem to think because they are doctors they have the right to do whatever they want to womens bodies and that is not the case.
