Dd is 10 months old and nurses about every 3 hours or so. EVERY time I'm around the inlaws and she wants to nurse they comment "again?! Or mil always says " I'm gonna get you in MA" like AA for alcoholics, and they're constantly asking when I'm gonna wean her. I honestly don't have plans to wean at a year. When I say I don't know when I'm gonna wean, they get all weird. Nobody in that family has ever breastfed. This is probably just a rant, but after a year, if baby's are breastfed, do you give them cows milk too? How often do they nurse?

LO is almost 14 months. She nurses as much as ever. She gets cows milk if I'm away.

When you start cow's milk you are weaning her. You can do both if you want but all she needs is your milk. I BF my son until 15 months then he had goat milk until 2.

Dd is 13months and is bf in the evenings before bed otherwise she has formula. I'm unsure when to start her on cows milk but she only has maybe 1 or 2 bottles a day.

Simply tell them to stop being ignorant assholes.. lol
Your daughter will naturally start the weaning process when she turns one you will see they start to drop a feeding every now and then. Props to you to being the first in your family to breastfeed that is very very strong of you <3

I give my child cows milk as well as him BFing. He's going to be 4 in July.

My family was weirded out when they knew I was BFing at 2, I just told him he weaned and never brought it up again. They don't need to know wtf I do with my body, or my child. :P.

This isn't always true. :P.

Like my post says my almost 4 year old still nurses.. He nursed like an infant till he was about 2.. He then went down to 3-4 sessions a day, then at 3 he nursed only when he woke up, and at night. And now at almost 4 we are only at night. Some kids take a while to self wean.

But that is still natural. It is just our society that says it is weird for kids to be nursing at 4. My son is 13 months and still nurses about 6 times a day. He drinks water and breastmilk and eats food. I don't give him any cows milk, because it isn't necessary. I have a cool picture on my prof here about breastmilk nutrition. Op, feel free to copy it and show it to your family. I did that to the 2 friends that I have that found it weird that I nurse my children until they wean and they changed their tune. Now one of them is planning on nursing her daughter until she self weans. :)

my oldest was BF until 21 months, and only stopped then because my milk stopped. but the last few months of this he was basically comfort nursing. he ate solid foods and drank from a cup, but wanted me and my milk at nap and bed time... DD2 was BF until 15 months, and was the same way.

Yeah I know it's still natural. :P. I was simply replying to her point that once she turns one she'll start natural weaning. :). I'll go look at the graphic though.

My daughter is 28 months and still nursing. She nursed like a newborn until almost 2 (at which point I think she only reduced her nursing frequency because I was about 22 weeks along and my milk was starting to dry up). She never totally have it up though, she still nursed before bed/nap and when she wakes and if she doesn't feel good she will nurse all day.
My family thinks I'm a freak for continuing, especially when I'm expecting another baby any day, but it's none of there business.

Also, offering other milk options does not mean you've started the weaning process. Dd gets other milk options like coconut milk, cows milk, almond milk, etc and still asks t

Are you going to try to tandem nurse? I did with my oldest two and plan on it with my youngest and this one growing in my tummy. It really helped my daughter to adjust to the new baby and feel like she was still my baby too.

Introducing solid food is when you actually start weaning so yes, introducing another milk is further weaning.
