I had HORRIBLE side effects from Paxil. Feet, ankles, hands and face swelled really bad. I was always dizzy. Always had headaches. I also had terrible flu like withdrawal symptoms when i quit taking it.
I do know some people who had no trouble with it at all. Everyone reacts to psychiatric drugs differently. I personally would ask for something else.

Isn't that kind of a high dose?

I was started out on 20 mg for PPD. And I had a pretty severe case of PPD. I'm in the process of weaning down to 10 mg. Anyway, no weird side effects. I do take it at bed time though cause it makes me so drowsy.

I have taken Paxil because I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder along with a few other Anxiety disorders, and it didn't do anything for me. The only thing I've found that helped was Xanax and I still take 60mg a month (60 1mg tablets, 2 times a day). Hopefully it works for you but I wouldn't be too concerned about the side-effects. I literally didn't feel anything from it, and it didn't help my anxiety, but that doesn't mean it wont help yours (if that's the reason you're taking it, I mean). Good luck hun! And of course be sure to tell your Dr if you do have any adverse effects :)

I have social anxiety disorder and have been taking paxil for 3 years (minus 7 months while i was pregnant with DD). It has made me a different person. I am so much happier and I don't worry as much in social situations. I am on 60 right now but i was so much better even at 30 where i started.

Thanks for your responses, and yeah it's for anxiety. Hopefully it works & no crazy side affects, it took forever to get off my other anti depressant meds, i hated it!
