Low progesterone blighted ovum Haley+2♥ Due June 27; TTC since Jun 2013; 2 kids; Michigan 16510 posts

If you found out you had low progesterone how long was it before you miscarried? Did you have low progesterone in your future pregnancies?

My midwife called me and told me my labs showed my prog levels at 8 and that ill likely miscarry. I go back today for my second blood draw but she predicts it won't double. It's really heartbreaking. I feel so torn and like my body is betraying me.

I didn't have any issues with my first pregnancy, then I lost my second and third pregnancies. They checked my levels in my fourth pregnancy and they were at 6 (but they didn't bother telling me). By the time I got on progesterone supplements, it was too late. With this pregnancy, I demanded the suppositories from the very start - even before they checked my levels. I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant. I have a blood clotting disorder, so I'm Lovenox injections, too.

I read a lot of sites saying th e progesterone supplements are controversial and a lot of doctors won't give them. Can I get them OTC?

Some doctors say they won't help. But they won't hurt either, so why not at least give them a try, you know? You can't buy the suppositories OTC. You can buy the cream, but it's not enough to sustain a pregnancy (not a high enough dose).

Call your doctor and have her call you in a script for Progesterone(I was on the pill form, once a day). I was on them till my 20 week for each of my pregnancies because of previous miscarriages. I can't say for sure that they had anything to do with having two successful pregnancies but I like to think it did.

When hey did my u.s. the sac that they found was so tiny it has tobeablighted ovum my hcg is 1500s or something I can't remember but she said she expects it won't double today. It kills me taking tests and seeing those clear positives knowing a miscarriage is imminent.

How far are you?
Maybe you're just earlier than you think.

I should be6 the sac was tiny almost unseeable and progesterone at 8 doesn't look good. The midwife agrees. Her phone call crushed me now I know what to expect today but I think it'll still break me worst thing is I have to work today.

I had two confirmed m/c due to low progesterone but I think Ive had more. With my last pregnancy, they did blood work every other day starting when I poas and got a positive. My number fell 4 points in 2 days so I was put on crinone gel. My son is 6 months old (today!). I had to fight my insurance company though, because they classify progesterone as a fertility drug and did not want to cover it. It was $12.47/dose so Im glad they finally did

So what happens with a miscarriage? Will I bleed a lot? Do I need to be seen by anyone? Will it hurt? Can I still work while miscarrying?

I had both of my miscarriages at 6 weeks. I bled pretty heavily for the first two days(it look more purple-ish than red)and then it turned into what a regular period would be. The bleeding completely stopped for me after a week and a half. The cramps were a bit more intense than with a regular period(I took 800mg Motrin). You can work but if it's possible I would rest for a couple days-its difficult(or at least it was for me)-physically and mentally. I took a few months off from TTC, just because I wasn't ready yet-I was still grieving my lost but my doctor said to wait 3 months to try again to give my body plenty of time t heal and to give me the best chance of a healthy pregnancy.

Do you have a tilted usterus that you know of because I was told that same thing and they wanted me to schedule a dnc I refused it turned out my uterus is tilted and internal u/s dont really tell anything for me so I would get some progesterone from the dr and wait to hear about the results as long as they are going up it should be fine good luck hun

What did your ob say about your progesterone levels? Are they always low? Does it make it had to TTC?

It's different for everyone, depending on how far along you are. I worked through 2 of mine, because they were early (6 weeks) and not that painful (physically). There was no way I could work through my 11 week miscarriage, because it felt like labor and I was losing sooo much blood. I took a couple of days off for that one. I wish you the best.
