How far is your kid's school? Rain (aka Mama) 3 kids; Monroe, Georgia 6465 posts

Curious. If you have a kid in preschool or kindergarten, how far away from you is their school? At what distance would you think the school was a bit far?

I'm going through the process of signing my daughter up for special needs pre-k, and the elementary school she'd be going to is kinda far away, in my opinion, especially that I could get to my son's pre-k for next year in about five minutes.

Ayanna's preschool (and starting in Sept. pre-k) is literally like 2 blocks from my house.

I would say longer than a 10-15 minute drive is pretty far?

That's what I was thinking. Her pre-k is like a 20-25 minute drive.

My sons school is about 10 minutes away (probably closer to 7 minutes) from my house. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable sending him to a school being more than 20-25 minutes away.

Hmm. Is there any one closer that offers pre-k? Or is that the only one?

My son goes to an elementary school for services and developmental pre one day a week- they keep harassing me to add more minutes. They want him in 5 days a week, but I don't.

Anyway- that school is 10 minutes away.

Through the school system, that's the one she's assigned to. I'm not sure if there are any closer that offer special needs pre-k. :?

I just don't like that if she's having a bad day or has an issue, it'd take almost half an hour to get there.

My sons school is about a ten min drive. There is a closer public school, but I'd rather drive and keep him in a private one.

Some districts have schools for specific diagnosis. A few towns over one of the elementary school's has an autism program where the other one doesn't, so my friend was driving her son to that school so he was in a better program and it was probably 20 minutes away even though the closer school was maybe 5 minutes.
