Stroller-like wheelchair? MahmuhMahmuh 3 kids; Wichita, Kansas 6706 posts

Trying to help my mom find something for my younger sister, she is mobile, she CAN walk. The trouble is she is visually impaired, and is not grasping the concepts involved with the modified canes they have had made for her, she is very very low functioning cognitively, and she does not do walking long distances, she will just sit down on the ground when she is tired and my parents end up carrying her (they are both active, but I hate seeing my mom do this especially she has a very bad back). They don't want a "wheelchair" for her because they are so heavy and bulky, and she doesn't need something to be in all the time. We have seen children in what look like large and tall strollers. She is too tall for a regular stroller though, I've found the Aprica Umbrella strollers that have weight limits of 70lbs, and sits up higher, so that would last her awhile, she is small for a 6 year old. She's only 45lbs and 3 and a half feet tall. Anyways, just looking at any possible options before ordering this stroller.

You might be able to have insurance cover a medical stroller. Look at mobility websites, as they have strollers for older kids that have higher weight/ height limits so you don't have to keep ordering bigger ones when she grows.
